Effects
Is it possible to output the effected sound and the original bass sound at the same time?
Yes, it is possible. Set the XLR BALANCED OUT connector PRE/POST switch to PRE. Set this way, the main OUTPUT jacks will output the effected sound, while the XLR connector will output the original bass sound at the same time.
The volume levels of programmed patches are different. How do I make them the same?
Use the PATCH LEVEL parameter to adjust the volume of each patch appropriately. For details about the PATCH LEVEL parameter, see page 14 of the Operation Manual.
When changing patches, is it possible to not change the sound until after I have confirmed it?
No, it is not possible. The B3 does not have a patch preselect function.
When I use distortion effects, the noise increases.
As a general rule, not just with ZOOM effect processors, distortion sounds are created by amplifying the input signal. When this is done, small noises picked up by the bass guitar pickups and cables are also amplified. If you are using a distortion effect and noise that you hear when you are not playing is bothering you, try using the ZNR (Zoom Noise Reduction) effect with the distortion effect.
If I connect an FS01 foot switch, which is sold separately, what will I be able to do with it?
If you connect an FS01 foot switch, you will be able to use it to bypass the effects, turn the tuner on/off, tap the tempo for use with rhythms, the looper and effects, enable the delay hold function, and mute the delay input. For details, see page 17 of the Operation Manual.
Is it possible to use a foot switch to tap the tempo used for delay times and modulation rates?
This is not possible using the foot switches on the B3. If you want to tap the tempo for delay times and modulation rates while playing bass guitar, you will need an FS01 foot switch (sold separately).
If I connect an FP02 expression pedal, which is sold separately, what will I be able to do with it?
If you connect an FP02 expression pedal, you will be able to use it to control desired effect parameters in real time. In addition to volume, wah and pitch, you can also use the pedal to control the gain of distortion effects, modulation rates, and delay and reverb levels with your foot as you play the bass guitar.
For details, see page 16 of the Operation Manual.
Can I control multiple effects at the same time with an FP02 expression pedal, which is sold separately?
No, you cannot control multiple effects at the same time.
When using an expression pedal to control volume, can I set the minimum volume?
Yes. In the TOTAL menu, you can set the adjustment range of the effect parameter that is controlled by the expression pedal. For details, see page 16 of the Operation Manual.
Can I use three instances of the same effect simultaneously?
Yes, you can. For example, you could use three delay affects with different settings to create a complex delay sound.
Is it possible to restore just one specific effect patch to its factory default?
No, it is not possible to do so on the B3 itself. However, you can restore a specific patch to its factory default settings using the Edit&Share software.

■ Number of input channels: 2 (stereo L/R)
■ Number of output channels: 2 (stereo L/R)
Can the B3 USB audio interface be used with DAW software other than Sequel LE?
Since the B3 audio interface should be recognized as a standard Windows or Macintosh audio device, you can use it with other DAW software. Furthermore, you can also use it with Windows Media Player, Apple iTunes and other audio playback software, allowing you to play along with your favorite music. For information about how to set up other DAW software, please check directly with the software makers.
I am able to use the USB audio interface to record, but no sound comes out of my computer speakers. What should I do?
When using the B3 as a USB audio interface, sound from the computer is output through the B3. Connect speakers to the B3 instead of the computer.
When I record to DAW software using the B3 USB audio interface, it sounds like a flanger effect is being added.
If the DAW software’s “echo back” function, which sends the input signal back to the outputs during recording, is on (input monitoring on), the signal from the DAW software will be output slightly after the direct output of the B3, resulting in a sound like a flanger. If you want to use the DAW software’s “echo back” function, set the USB AUDIO MONITOR parameter to “100.” For details, see page 20 of the Operation Manual.
Can I adjust the recording level sent to my DAW software?
Yes, you can. Open the GLOBAL menu and use the USB AUDIO setting to adjust the REC GAIN parameter. For details, see page 20 of the Operation Manual.
Can the B3 run on USB bus power?
Yes, it can. The B3 can receive and use power supplied by a computer’s USB bus.
Is a USB cable included?
No, a USB cable is not included. Please use a commercially-available USB cable (AB type).
Other Topics
Can I use the looper function and the rhythm function at the same time?
Yes, you can. Follow these procedures.
1) Press the RHYTHM key to start playback of the desired rhythm pattern.
2) Press foot switch 3 to return to the Home Screens.
3) Press and hold foot switch 3 for a second to activate the looper function.
Hint: If you set the TIME parameter to a note mark (♪), you can record phrases in sync with the rhythm.
When using the looper function, can I UNDO/REDO with a foot switch?
Yes, you can. You can use a foot switch while playing the bass guitar to UNDO/REDO an overdubbed phrase. You can also set Loop playback to stop after fading out, which you can use when looping in real-time during performances.
How do I activate Sequel LE?
“Standby...”appears blinking on the display and sound stops being output.
The B3 has an energy conservation function to prevent unnecessary power consumption and the batteries from draining. For this reason, if the B3 is not used for about 25 minutes, it automatically enters standby mode. To disable this energy conservation function, shift the POWER switch from “eco” to “ON”.
Is it possible to adjust the volume when monitoring the output of the B3 using headphones?
Yes it is possible. Open the GLOBAL menu and adjust the B3 output volume (MASTER LEVEL). For details, see page 18 of the Operation Manual.
Can I save the rhythm pattern, tempo and level settings?
Yes, the rhythm pattern, tempo and level settings are automatically saved even when you turn the power off.
Is there any problem with using an AC adapter or USB bus power to operate the B3 while batteries are still in it?
No, there is no problem. The batteries will not be drained in these cases.
“Low Battery!” appears on the display. What should I do?
When the remaining battery charge becomes low, this warning appears, encouraging you to change the batteries. Please change them as soon as possible.
Can I use nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) batteries?
Yes, you can. Please use the GLOBAL menu and set the BATTERY item to “Ni-MH” in order to allow the remaining battery charge to be shown properly.
Does the B3 recharge batteries?
No, it does not have a recharging function. Please use a commercially-available recharger to recharge batteries.
Does the B3 have an AUX IN jack to allow the connection of MP3 players and other devices?
No, it does not have an AUX IN jack. However, you can use the USB audio interface function to output playback from Windows Media Player, Apple iTunes or similar software at the same time that you use the B3. You can, for example, play your bass guitar along to music that you like.
