Patches that I have programmed have different volume levels. Is there a way to make them the same?
The "Patch Level" parameter in each patch can be used to minimize volume level differences. For information on how to set the patch level, see the section "Adjusting the sound" on page 16 of the Operation Manual.
Can I adjust the mixing balance between original sound and effect sound?
Yes, the "Total Balance" parameter of each patch can be used to adjust the mixing balance between original sound and effect sound. For information on how to set the total balance, see the section "Adjusting the sound" on page 16 of the Operation Manual.
I have selected pedal wah for the WAH/EFX1 module, but pushing the expression pedal does not give a wah effect.
Check whether pedal wah is selected as control target of the expression pedal. For details, see the section "Assigning control targets to the expression pedal" on pages 31 - 33 of the Operation Manual.
Can I change the insert position of the volume pedal?
No. The insert position of the volume pedal is fixed to the position after the CABINET module.
Does the unit offer a seamless delay function where the delay sound of the previous patch remains audible when changing patches?
No, seamless delay is not built in. When changing patches, the delay sound is cut off.
Can I change the sequence of effect modules at will?
For some modules, this is possible. The pre-amp section insertion position can be changed to immediately after the WAH/EFX1 module or immediately after the DELAY module. The WAH/EFX1 module can be positioned before or after the pre-amp section. For details, see the section "Changing the insert position of the pre-amp section and WAH/EFX1 module" on pages 62 - 63 of the Operation Manual.
For some patches, the function foot switch LED flashes. What does this mean?
This indicates the patch specific tempo. With the B9.1ut, parameters such as modulation rate or delay time can be synchronized to a patch-specific tempo. For details, see the section "Specifying the tempo for a patch" on pages 38 - 39 of the Operation Manual.
USB
Can the B9.1ut also be used as an audio device in conjunction with DAW software other than the bundled Cubase LE 4?
Yes. When the B9.1ut is connected to the computer via a USB cable, it is recognized as a standard audio device in a Windows or Macintosh environment. You can for example perform audio playback using Windows Media Player or Apple iTunes and play along with your favorite tunes. For details on settings and operation of the other software, refer to the documentation of the respective application.
When I connect the B9.1ut by USB cable to the computer, there is no sound from my computer speakers.
When using the audio interface function of the B9.1ut, audio signals of the computer are output via the B9.1ut. You should therefore connect the playback system such as speakers or headphones to the B9.1ut output, not to the computer.
Can the unit operate on USB bus power?
No, the unit does not support operation on USB bus power supplied by the computer.
Does the unit support the 64-bit version of Windows Vista and Windows 7?
Yes. The latest Audio Driver supports the 64-bit version of Windows Vista and Windows 7. This driver software is freely available from
DOWNLOAD page.
MIDI
Is it possible to save patch data of the B9.1ut directly on an external MIDI device?
No. To save patch data on an external device, use the "B9.1ut Editor Librarian" software to create a backup on a computer. If two B9.1ut units are used, it is possible to transfer patch data back and forth via the MIDI link. For details, see the section "Sending and receiving B9.1ut patch data via MIDI" on pages 50 - 51 of the Operation Manual.
Can I use the B9.1ut as a controller for an external MIDI component?
Yes. Patch switching information and pedal/switch/key information can be output and input via MIDI. For details on MIDI settings for the B9.1ut, see the section "MIDI Usage Examples" on pages 42 - 51 of the Operation Manual. For information on MIDI settings for the other component, see the documentation of that product.
I want to use the B9.1ut to switch patches at an external MIDI component, but the patch that is called differs from the mapping mode settings.
The program change mapping mode settings are effective only when receiving commands. The program numbers sent by the B9.1ut to external equipment when switching patches are fixed. You must therefore change the mapping at the other component. For information on program change numbers assigned to the patches of the B9.1ut, see page 83 of the Operation Manual.

Can the foot switches be used to switch a specific effect on and off?
Yes. The B9.1ut has a manual mode in which the foot switches let you turn major modules on and off. This is similar to having separate compact effects that can be controlled individually. For details, see the section "Switching Modules On and Off" on pages 14 - 15 of the Operation Manual.
I have connected the unit to the power amplifier input (effect return jacks) of a bass amplifier, but the volume is low.
Use the LEVEL knob on the rear panel of the B9.1ut to raise the output level of B9.1ut. The maximum output level boost is +6dB.
Does the unit include drum machine functions?
No, a drum machine is not built in.
Do the external loop connectors of the B9.1ut support +4dBm?
Yes. An input/output level switch is provided for the external loop connectors of the B9.1ut. For connection of a rack-mount effect or similar with a reference input level of +4dBm, set the switch to "+4dBm". For connection of a compact effect, use the "-10dBm" setting.
Can I adjust the input level?
Yes. The B9.1ut has a built-in Accelerator circuit that allows adjusting the gain of the input signal. Use the "TUBE" and "SOLID STATE" controls to obtain a suitable level. The B9.1ut also has a Pickup Select function which allows you to match the signal level to the bass pickup you are using. For details, see the section "Using the Pickup Select function" on page 61 of the Operation Manual.
Can I use the B9.1ut as a direct box?
Yes. The B9.1ut has XLR connectors that supply a balanced line output signal. By using the PRE/POST switch, it is possible to output the direct sound without going through the A/D converter. For details, see the section "Use as a direct box" on pages 59 - 60 of the Operation Manual.
When I use the B9.1ut, the volume level is very low.
Are the two controls of the Accelerator section turned down? When the [TUBE] and [SOLID STATE] controls are turned fully counterclockwise, the input signal to the B9.1ut is cut off. Refer to the "Using the Accelerator" section on pages 16 - 17 of the Operation Manual for information on how to set the controls to a suitable level.
Does the unit come with a USB cable?
No, a USB cable is not supplied. Please purchase a commercially available USB cable (A/B type).
Hum noise is heard when the unit is connected to a mixer or recorder using the XLR connectors.
A ground loop involving connected equipment may have formed. Try setting the GROUND switch to "LIFT" and check whether this improves the condition.
