What is the maximum sound pressure level for the built-in microphone?

The built-in microphone XYQ-8 is rated for a maximum input sound pressure level of 140 dB.

Is it possible to perform long-term recording that exceeds the maximum MOV file size (4GB)?

Yes. When the 4GB file size is reached during recording, the Q8 stores the file and then opens a new file for further recording.

Is it possible to perform long-term recording that exceeds the maximum WAV file size (2 GB)?

Yes. When the 2 GB (*1) file size is reached during recording, the Q8 stores the file and then opens a new file for further recording. Recording will not be interrupted during this process. By joining the resulting files using waveform editing software on a computer, a seamless long-term recording can be created.

(*) Normally, the maximum size for a WAV file is set to 2 GB. Files larger than 2 GB may not be recognized correctly by media player software or other audio software on a computer.

The file size while recording excesses 4 GB, I cannot record continuously at this moment.

Some SD cards doesn't support continuous recording with over 4 GB in file size. Please refer to the supported SD cards list here.

Can I use the Q8 as a web camera for my computer?

Yes, it is possible. Please turn on the power after connecting it to computer via USB. Then, you can select card reader, audio interface or web camera from the menu.

Can I use the Q8 as a linear PCM recorder?

Yes. Please set the recording mode to "STEREO AUDIO" or "MULTI AUDIO". For details, please refer to "Recording mode overview" on page 15 of the operation manual.

Does the Q8 have an anti-shake function?

No, the Q8 is not equipped with an anti-shake function.

Can I shoot still pictures with the Q8?

No, still pictures are not supported.

A MOV file recorded with 24-bit/96 kHz audio setting cannot be played on my computer.

Depending on the media player, MOV files with high resolution audio such as 24-bit/96 kHz may not play properly. Check which formats are supported by the software that you are using.

When I playback a file on my PC, I don't get any audio.

Some playback software doesn't support the audio format of 96 kHz sample rate. Please try to playback with QuickTime.

Can I recharge the batteries with the Q8?

Yes. By connecting the Q8 to your computer via USB or using an optional USB power supply (AD-17), you can charge the supplied lithium-ion battery.

Can I feed video signal to a TV set while recording?

Yes, you can. However when you reconnect the HDMI cable to the TV set while recording, recording is stopped.

Can I use an external power source?

Yes. The AD-17 (sold separately) or mobile batteries for smart phone are available. Please note that the battery life depends on the power source devices you connected.

Can I use the SDXC cards?

Yes. Up to 128 GB SDXC cards are available.

"No Card" shows on the display, and I cannot record.

The SD card may not be inserted correctly. If you are using a microSD card, please attach an SD card adaptor and then insert into the card slot.
